Promoting child health care in Atlantic Canada.

The Atlantic Pediatric Society began in the 1980s as an informal Association of pediatricians in the Canadian Atlantic provinces of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. It has grown to comprise 200 members in Canada and the United States of America. Membership is open to all pediatricians worldwide as well as other health professionals with an interest in child health. The sole restriction for non-pediatrician members is access to online discussion forums where sensitive information may be displayed.

The goals of the Atlantic Pediatric Society are:

  • To promote and provide continuing medical education for its members
  • To enhance communication and collaboration among its members
  • To promote child health in Atlantic Canada

The principal activity is an annual meeting held somewhere in Atlantic Canada that provides the main forum for continuing medical education as well as an opportunity for members to discuss issues that concern their practice of medicine and child health.
